How the state decides to reopen one park but not another

By WCMY News May 4, 2020 | 1:15 PM

Only some state parks are open again. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Colleen Callahan says there are a number of things being considered when the department decides which ones can reopen. It depends on their amenities.

The things being considered are whether there’s enough space for people to stay apart from each other and how easily they can wash their hands there. Callahan says things are being evaluated all the time, so more parks could reopen before the pandemic and stay-at-home order ends. Some of it will also depend on how well people follow the social distancing rules.
