Members of Congress urge support of local media outlets

16th District Cong. Adam Kinzinger, and around another 200 members of Congress, have signed a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to support local media outlets by spending federal money on advertising. The letter says that the public relies on local media to provide information during the COVID-19 crisis, but media outlets have seen big losses in revenue as local businesses have less money to spend on advertising. The government has programs and campaigns that it advertises. The letter suggests that the government spend that ad money at local media outlets. It also asks the president to incentivize businesses to use some of their stimulus funds on advertising at local media outlets.
