IVCC honored recently retired IVCC President Dr. Jerry Corcoran with a bench in front of the IVCC Ottawa Center.

During Corcoran’s tenure as president, he facilitated the creation of the Ottawa satellite campus.

“Dr. Corcoran has done so much through the years for the IVCC community. We are here today to honor his legacy and share in his vision,” Ottawa Center Coordinator Jeannette Phalen said. “The satellite campus has literally brought higher education to Main St. Situated in the seat of LaSalle County and at the eastern edge of our district, our community has been provided with access to learning.”

The IVCC Board of Trustees surprised Corcoran with the bench in honor of his service to the college.

Corcoran’s two granddaughters held the original 2010 ribbon used to open the IVCC Ottawa Center for Corcoran to cut to unveil the new bench.

Corcoran officially retired on June 30 after 15 years as the college’s president and 33 years in total at the college. Outside of opening the Ottawa Center, during his presidency Corcoran also worked to open the Peter Miller Community Technology Center, the Truck Driver Training facility and increased IVCC Foundation assets by more than $5 million.
