Restraining order issued against stay-at-home order extension in response to lawmaker’s lawsuit

A Clay County Judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the extension of Gov. JB Pritzker’s stay-at-home order to fight COVID-19. The modified order is set to go into effect Friday. The judge’s decision Monday is in response to lawsuit filed by Xenia State Rep. Darren Bailey. Bailey says the stay-at-home order violates people’s rights. Pritzker called the lawsuit reckless and an insult to Illinoisans who have died from the virus during his daily briefing Monday.

The ruling only applies to Bailey himself, but it opens the door to others to sue for the same reasons.

EDIT: Added that the ruling only applies to Bailey.
