The Streator City Council wants more time to look over a resolution that allows Streator High School soccer teams to practice and play at James St. Park. The resolution was finished yesterday afternoon and given to council members just before the meeting started. City Manager David Plyman says the city is basically letting Streator High School use James St. Park for soccer fields rent free. Athletic Director Nick McGurk asked if the city would help fix an irrigation system that’s been at the park to help keep new soccer fields they want to remodel playable. McGurk says other equipment is ready to be added.

Plyman says the city is putting another $900,000 into the park. He says the city wants to do more with the recreational area that’s been neglected.

The council could approve the resolution at a special meeting Friday. Plyman says $900,000 is being put into the park by the city.
