The public will be allowed in Ottawa’s parks again starting Saturday. Mayor Dan Aussem announced Friday afternoon, the open spaces will be open for public use again as long as people stay six feet apart from each other.

Picnic tables won’t be put out, playground equipment is still off limits, and the restrooms will stay closed. Up to ten people at a time will be allowed in a pavilion at a park. Fishing will be allowed again on the shores in the parks along the Fox and Illinois rivers. And walking on the Illinois and Michigan Canal Trail will be allowed again, in Ottawa city limits.

Also, the disc golf equipment at Fox River Park will be available for use again. Players must remember to stay six feet apart from each other. Otherwise, all sports facilities (tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, pickleball courts, and the skate park) are staying closed for now.
