The Carus Chemical Company wants to start a task force to create a comprehensive community plan. Carus leadership, city of LaSalle officials, and community members would develop an emergency response plan to reassure neighbors and other residents about how to react to any emergency event in the community. During the first Carus Chemical town hall in May, residents expressed frustration about not being able to see the company’s emergency plan. They also expressed how there was limited information about what to do during an emergency like the January 11th fire. The chemical company says it can only share its plan with first responders, elected officials, and regulatory agencies. More details and progress made toward all efforts will be shared when they become available.
