The city limits to the city of Marseilles now go up to Interstate 80. The city council last night approved five ordinances to annex land as part of the city’s years-long expansion project. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the project took so long because it was hard to get everyone together and one lawyer wanted a lot of information before giving over the land. He says the land could be developed into anything from homes to new businesses.
He says he feels good about getting the annexation done and working on extending the city’s water and sewer toward the interstate to bring new people in. The city’s expansion toward the interstate has been worked on since the 1970s.
