More parking is being added to the 100 block of W. Madison St. in Ottawa. City Engineer Tom Duttlinger says eighteen new angled parking spaces will be created on the north side of the street next month. He says the project also includes includes new curb and gutter on the street’s south side and landscaping. When the project starts at the end of July, the 100 block of W. Madison will be down to one lane. It should be done by mid-August

The city parking lot at the intersection of Columbus and W. Madison will also be redone to add eight additional parking spots. The city hosted a town hall meeting last night before the regular council meeting to get resident’s input on the project. Resident Dewayne Cronkright was concerned about if trucks will continue to block Madison St.

Another resident asked about why more of a notice wasn’t given about the meeting and a third asked about what should be done with her building because it has a guardrail next to it.

This is the parking plan shown at last night’s Ottawa town hall meeting before the regular city council meeting.
