Oglesby Commissioner Terry Eutis says the city won’t take anything less than 100% reimbursement for fire equipment damaged during the Carus Chemical Fire in January. He told the city council Monday night that Carus’s insurance company only offered to reimburse the city 50%. Eutis says he later talked to LaSalle Mayor Jeff Grove about and Grove called Carus. He says the company’s insurance then offered 85% reimbursement, but he rejected the offer because LaSalle’s Fire Department was reimbursed in full. Negotiations are still continuing with the chemical company. He says he thought that LaSalle Fire Chief Jerry Janick was supposed to negotiating for all the fire departments to be paid back for everything damaged because of the fire.
