IVCH accepting cloth mask donations

Illinois Valley Community Hospital wasn’t taking donations of homemade cloth masks before, but it is now. Spokeswoman Joan Fernandez says the hospital will hand them out to patients.

Patients get to keep the masks for when they’re out in public. The masks should be washed regularly. Anyone who has masks to donate can drop them off at the hospital’s main entrance of 6th Street. They can also make arrangements to drop them off without leaving the car by calling 815-780-4618.

Masks should be made with two pieces of tight-woven cotton with either elastic ear loops or straps to tie around the head. IVCH is still taking donations of things like N-95 masks, gowns, paper lunch bags, and bleach.
