The newly rebuilt Riordan Pool in Ottawa is opening Monday. Commissioner Marla Pearson says there are a few differences between the old and new pools.
Although the entire remodeling cost about $6.7 million instead of the original $5 million estimate, Pearson says it was all worth it.
One thing that didn’t stay was the concessions stand because food was wasted and it wasn’t cost-effective. But people will be allowed to bring in their own food and drink.
Thursday, the Illinois Department of Public Health is inspecting the pool to make sure it’s safe. The remodeling project started last year.
