Sen. Rezin would like state trails reopened

Gov. Pritzker said everyone could still take a walk during the shutdowns. But then the state closed popular hiking trails, such as the Illinois and Michigan Canal. St. Sen. Sue Rezin says it’s frustrating for her too, and she’d like to have it open again.

Before the signs went up in Ottawa closing the canal trail, WCMY News spotted people walking their dogs and keeping distance from each other. Rezin says people can certainly do that on a hiking or biking trail. But she wouldn’t go so far as to open Starved Rock State Park, because it’s too big a crowd draw.
