Empty shelves not sign of food shortage

LaSalle County Farm Bureau President David Isermann says there’s plenty of food being produced by farmers, despite the ongoing pandemic. He says the reason you may have seen some empty shelves at stores is because people are having to cook more often.

Isermann says food is processed differently for restaurants than for stores. For example, a restaurant might want to buy a 50-pound package of ground beef instead of a one-pound package like you buy at the store.

Isermann says there’s also been issues transporting goods because there aren’t as many trucks on the road because of coronavirus worries.
