Cannabis dispensaries are considered essential in the statewide shutdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 – including the Verilife Dispensary in Ottawa. Spokesman Jeremy Unruh says, although the dispensary sells adult use cannabis, it remains primarily dedicated to medical users.

To prevent a virus outbreak, the company is using two teams who each the run store for a week. It’s regularly being cleans and disinfected. Employees are also being screened. Unruh says there is less foot traffic because of limits brought on by social distancing, but customers are buying more when they visit. The company is still hiring at its various locations around the Eastern part of the U.S.
