Peru Mayor Scott Harl is asking stores, and other businesses, to follow new guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Among the guidelines are only allowing one person per cart at stores, banning those under age 16, and providing signage encouraging social distancing. Stores are also asked to mark six foot spaces at checkout lanes and sanitize carts after each use. A statement from city hall isn’t ordering businesses to follow the guidelines, but says an order will be issued they don’t.
