Ottawa child seriously injured after dog attack

A dog mauled a child in Ottawa Thursday evening according to Ottawa Police. Detective Corporal Matthew Najdanovich says police and the Ottawa Fire Department were called to the 400 block of View St. and found the dog attacking the child on the front lawn. When police approached the dog ran back into the yard. The child received serious injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before being taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Police say the dog was later taken to a facility for quarantine by LaSalle County Animal Control.
