The Peru woman known on YouTube as “Accountability Angel” is going to trial next week. 31-year old Angel Farmer allegedly hurt a peace officer during a scuffle with them at the Etna Rd. Courthouse in Ottawa in March 2021. She was allegedly trying to bring her cell phone inside the courthouse. Before the trial, Prosecutor Kelly Porter asked Judge H. Chris Ryan Friday if some videos that Farmer’s attorney wants to show are relevant to the trial. The videos aren’t from the alleged incident. Farmer’s Attorney Wayne Slaughter says they are because they show that his client has a self-defense claim. He also says his client claims that she was assaulted by LaSalle County Sheriff in one of the videos and the charge was never investigated. Ryan said that some of the videos can be seen at the trial, but he’ll have to think about the others. Jury selection for Farmer’s trial is set for Monday. She could face jail time if she’s convicted.
