A Streator man has been found mentally unfit for his aggravated assault against a peace officer case. Prosecutors said that 31-year old Jacob Thompson was shot by a Streator Police officer in January because he allegedly charged at the officer while carrying a knife. Thompson was able to leave the courtroom Thursday. He will be treated by the Illinois Department of Health and Human Services in the future. It could take about a year before he could be mentally fit to stand trial.
