LaSalle Alderman says Carus not reimbursing fire departments after January fire

LaSalle Alderman Bob Thompson says Carus Chemical isn’t reimbursing the city for the fire equipment lost during the fire. He says taxpayer money has been used to pay for getting equipment replaced for any fire department that responded to the January 11th fire. He says it’s a travesty and unheard of.

During a meeting with company representatives, Thompson says he was told that the city has to file a claim with a group that helps the chemical company’s insurance. He says that’s not what the city was told. Thompson also requested that he wants to end the truck route designation on Porter Ave. because a warehouse that used to store chemicals has been cleaned out.$93,000 has been spent by the city of LaSalle to replace fire equipment damaged during the January 11th fire.
