Active military members and their families can tour some museums around LaSalle County for free. That’s because they are designated as Blue Star Museum by the National Endowment for the Arts. It includes the Reddick Mansion in Ottawa, Seattle Sutton Museum in Marseilles, Mendota Museum and Historical Society, LaSalle County Historical Society in Utica, and the Hegeler-Carus Mansion in LaSalle. Tour Director Tricia Kelly says the museum has gotten its designation for the last few years.
She says families have to register.
The free tours for military members and their families go from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Kelly says military members can already tour the mansion for free by themselves.
