Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch integrating new system to help people during 911 calls

Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch can now help more people during 911 calls. They are integrating what is called the Medical, Fire, and Police Priority Dispatch System. Executive Director Brandon Miller-Guss says 911 operators can now provide life-saving instructions during heart attacks and choking situations. They can also help a caller with childbirth, tell someone how to give aspirin to a heart-attack victim, help people out of burning buildings, and give instructions if a vehicle is sinking in water. It will also help dispatchers decide which emergency vehicles need to be sent to different events. Miller-Guss says the system provides the highest standards while allowing the operators to manage limited resources better and increase the accuracy and efficiency of the dispatching process.
