The Streator Police Department is looking to do some upgrades. Deputy Police Chief Robert Wood wants to by ten computers for the departments’ squad cars. Wood says the current computers are outdated and run on Windows 7 so not much work can get done. He says it’s the most cost-effective way.
It would cost about $12,500 for the computers and money would come out of the city’s drug fund money. Wood also wants to replace a squad car that’s been nothing but problems since the department bought it.
He says once it’s purchased, it could be outfitted with lights and a radio and be out on the road quickly.
