An ordinance allowing an Airbnb to open on Center Pl. in Peru was tabled again by the city council. Several of the council members said more questions that need to be answered before anything should move forward. Alderman Mike Sapienza says he’s against it because of the noise, issues with neighbors, and where other Airbnb’s would be placed if the city council allows them.

Alderman Bob Tieman says he’s torn on the issue because he would personally be okay with an Airbnb moving next door

Alderman Tom Payton says he’s for it.

However, he too want to see an ordinance or a plan first before he would vote on allowing Airbnb’s in the city. Mayor Ken Kolowski says he’s still against it because Airbnb’s will negatively affect home properties in the areas. He also says from his research, rent could go up if Airbnb’s move in.
