Roof fire at Peru IHOP put out quickly

The roof of the IHOP restaurant in Peru caught fire Friday afternoon. Peru Fire Department Engineer Ryan Frank says when firefighters got to the restaurant they didn’t see any flames, but there was light smoke coming off the top of the roof and from inside the building. The fire department removed some of the southeast corner of the roof and started to put out hot spots on some of the tiles inside the restaurant. The fire was out quickly. Frank says the restaurant might be closed for some time because there was minor damage to the inside of the building and the power was out for several hours. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
