A bill introduced by Cong. Darin LaHood would make it easier for truck drivers to get their Commercial Driver’s License. It would hlep address supply chain shortages and increase the number of truck drivers taking goods across the US. The Licensing Individual Commercial Exam-takers Now Safely and Efficiently or LICENSE Act would allow drivers with a CDL test examiner certificaton to give new drivers the written test without having to take a knowlege test training course class first. It would also allow drivers to take a test in another state. LaHood says as worker and trucking shortages continue to be a persistent challenge for small businesses, this legislation will help streamline the process to obtain a CDL and reduce unnecessary red tape. The bill was introduced in the U.S House two weeks ago.
