OSF Healthcare is buying St. Margaret’s Health Peru. The two medical groups said they signed a letter of intent. OSF says the Peru hospital is eventually going to reopen with an emergency department and select other services. SMH CEO Tim Muntz says the hospital has remained committed to the mission and the values of Catholic healthcare. SMH closed the Peru hospital suddenly earlier this year citing, staff shortages, economic errors, a cyber-attack, and the COVID-19 pandemic. OSF says the next step is to seek regulatory approvals. It may take a while but they are hoping to bring back emergency care and other inpatient services to Peru as soon as possible.
