75th District St. Rep. Jed Davis and 74th District St. Rep. Brad Fritts say the guilty verdict from the ComEd bribery trail show how corrupt the Illinois state government is. A federal jury found former ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore, Michael McClain, John Hooker, and Jay Doherty guilty of trying to get favorable legislation from then Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan by bribing his office. Davis says the trial is just a small portion of the deep-rooted corruption in the state’s Democratic Party. He says Illinois Democrats are unable to police themselves and now is the time to get serious about fixing corruption by passing legislation that ends the shameful, unethical policies of the Madigan era. Fritts says this corruption is why he filed a bill to enact term limits in the Illinois General Assembly. His bill would allow people to serve in Illinois’s government for ten years. It never made it out of committee. Madigan himself will be having a trial on corruption charges in 2024. He’s pleaded not guilty in that case.
