Ottawa has one new commissioner on the council. Brent Barron is starting his first year on the council after also being a member of Ottawa’s plan commission. He was appointed last night to be the city’s public property commissioner. Marla Pearson is now the city’s commissioner of streets and improvements. Wayne Eichelkraut kept his position as the accounts and finance commissioner. And Tom Ganiere is taking over for James Less as the city’s public health and safety commissioner. Less said before he left his seat that the new council should be more transparent and be careful with the city’s checkbook. He lost his reelection to the council in the April election.
