St. Rep. Jed Davis says the Lake Holiday Homeowners Association will be able to do more for the roads they maintain. A bill he’s sponsoring in the house would allow the association to purchase roadway materials like road salt through the Northville Township Highway Commissioner. He says the township can purchase things like road salt at a much cheaper rate. Davis explained that the way the government structure is set up in the state, legislation was needed to make the change.
The bill has made it out of committee and could be heard on the house floor within the next three weeks. It was already passed in the senate with bipartisan support. Lake Holiday is located in north east LaSalle County a few miles south of Somoanuk.
