The village of Dalzell is forming an intergovernmental agreement with the city of Peru for water service. The village will take out a 30-year Illinois Environmental Protection Agency low-cost loan for the project. They are dealing with some water problems. City Engineer Eric Carls says their water distribution system is getting some long-term maintenance done and there are issues with their shallow wells. He says the city would build a line from the city that would take water to Dalzell, similar to a project done by the city of Streator and Ransom several years ago. He says it’s a good project that’s going to help a neighboring community.
