Zen meditation center permit on hold at Ottawa City Council

The owners of One River Zen have to wait until a special city council meeting next week to find out if they get a permit for their meditation center at 121 E. Prospect Ave. Two neighbors told the City Council last night, they’re concerned about parking and how often events are already happening. Commissioner Tom Ganiere says there are enough things happening there, he’s not sure the owners are asking for the right permit. One River Zen asked for a permit for up to 15 people at a time to participate in meditation sessions. The home has also been a bed-and-breakfast. It’s in a residential neighborhood.
