A part of a $14 million state grant is providing funding for Horizon House of the Illinois Valley to make improvements to its buildings. The organization is getting $71,000. Development Director Carol Fesco says the staffed home in Peru will get soundproofing because sound travels well in the building.
In LaSalle, the Community Day Service site is getting concrete work to make the area safer and easier to get in and out of. They are also getting a new wooden fence and new windows. Fesco says the organization had to prioritize what it had to get done before the grant funding.
The organization provides services and support to people with disabilities and their families. 70 other human services groups across the state are also getting some of the grant money.
