FEMA awarding Streator grant for fire department radios

Streator’s fire chief says a grant for about $210,000 will help the city pay for 28 new radios for the fire department. Chief Gary Bird says there will be one for each position on the fire trucks. When there’s a big emergency, there will be enough to share with other agencies so they can all communicate using the same system. The grant is coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Streator is putting in about $11,000 for the purchase.
