A Mendota man will spend five years in prison for hurting police officers arresting him in February. 43-year old Anil Bhate pleaded guilty Thursday to the charges. Police were called to a home on February 16th for a domestic battery incident. Prosecutor Jeremiah Adams said police were trying to take Bhate out of a home because he wasn’t supposed to be in it. While being carried out of the basement, Bhate kicked one officer in the groin and another in the thigh. He would later scratch another officer in the face after he was taken to a hospital for injuries he received. He said they were from his family. Judge Cynthia Raccuglia also gave Bhate a year of probation during sentencing.
