The Ottawa Elementary School Board heard from two companies Wednesday morning who want to help them start a Community Solar Project. Representatives from Forefront Power out of San Francisco, CA and Trajectory Energy Partners in Highland Park gave the presentations. Trajectory Energy Partners Project Manager Kiersten Sheets will help with every step of the project and spend time with the district and the city’s residents to explain how Community Solar would work.

She also talked about how the Brimfield School District north of Peoria is benefiting from solar panels.

Forefront Power Senior Sales Associate Ana Diaz Puskar explained how well the solar panels will be taken care of.

The solar panels would be placed on land south of Central School and could save the district up to 40% on their energy costs. Eventually residents around Ottawa who are Ameren customers could connect to the solar panels to help save them money. A school board committee first heard from six companies when the idea was first brought up. The school board will talk about solar project at next week’s board meeting at Central Intermediate School. They haven’t made a decision if they will go forward with the project.
