The Ottawa Fire Department put out a basement fire last night in a home in the 1400 block of W. Lafayette St. Fire Chief Brian Bressner says an electrical problem is to blame. Flames had spread into the kitchen when fire fighters arrived. But they had it under control in about 15 minutes. The Wallace and Naplate fire departments helped.
