Ottawa Chamber to put on a revamped farmers market

By WCMY News Apr 3, 2023 | 11:03 AM

Julia Petterson with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce says the Chamber asked sellers and buyers what they want to make the farmers market bigger and better. Just five vendors participated last year.

Last year’s farmers market almost didn’t happen. The Chamber’s executive director, Jeff Hettrick, announced its cancellation in March last year. But a small one got set up in front of Jeremiah Joe’s.

This year’s farmers market will be on Jackson St. by Washington Park. The Chamber aims to have 20 of them from June 3 to October 14. Petterson says it might get a name change to say that artists and crafters are selling goods too.

Local charities and non-profit organizations, artisans, crafters, florists, bakers, and others can be involved. Petterson’s taking calls about it at 815-433-0084 and email.
