The worst of the storm damage in this area on Friday was in Peru. Strong winds caused numerous power outages. Mayor Ken Kolowski described ten big power poles as snapped in half and lying in the fields by Plank Rd. The city power crews had power on again by midnight though.
Storms were deadly in other areas of the state Friday. A man was killed when a roof collapsed at a concert venue in Belvidere. About 200 people were watching a show. Gov. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation for Boone, Crawford, DuPage, Marion, and Sangamon counties.
