Dansby Swanson went three-for-four at the plate with an RBI in his Chicago debut. Trey Mancini and Yan Gomes also knocked in runs for the Cubbies, who start the regular season 1-and-0. (Houston, TX) — The White Sox spoiled Opening Day for the defending champions with a 3-2 win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Dylan Cease allowed one run in six-and-one-third innings for Chicago, while Kendall Graveman earned the win out of the pen. Yasmani Grandal hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, and Andrew Vaughn knocked in the game-winning run with a two-run double in the top of the ninth. The White Sox send Lance Lynn to the mound against Houston tonight.

(Chicago, IL) — The Blackhawks surrendered three goals in the second period of their 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues at United Center. Andreas Athanasiou tied the game at one during the frame, but St. Louis scored twice in less than a minute to lead by two heading into the third. Boris Katchouk knocked in a goal for Chicago to get within one, but Brandon Saad sealed the deal with an empty-netter in the final 90 seconds. Chicago is on a seven-game losing streak and remains in last place in the Central Division. The Blackhawks host New Jersey tomorrow.

The Bulls hold the final play-in spot by two games over the Wizards.
