Illinois Senate Republicans have announced a bill package to give financial relief to senior citizens, families, and Ameren customers. Sue Rezin of Morris wants to double the senior citizen income tax exemption from $1,000 to $2,000.
Sen. Erica Hariss of Glen Carbon in southern Illinois wants to put money into an Ameren bill relief program the legislature approved but never funded. Don DeWitte of St. Charles wants to make the one-year sales tax exemption on groceries permanent and add prescription drugs and medical devices to it. Jil Tracy of Quincy wants to increase the state’s child tax credit.
