More air filter testing possible on LaSalle homes impacted by Carus fire

More tests could be done on homes affected by the Carus Chemical fire in LaSalle. Deputy City Clerk Brent Bader says Brownfield is looking to have a company called Indoor Sciences check air quality inside of eight homes that have already been tested. Other homes that haven’t been tested would get tested.

But this isn’t happening right away. Bader says the council has to make the final decision.

The Sierra Club, an environmental organization, tested air filters at the homeowner’s request. They talked to the city council earlier this month about Carus being more transparent. Brownfield is the city’s third-party company doing air and soil tests. They told the city they want to test more after hearing about results from the Sierra Club. Bader says it could cost about $80,000 for all the testing. LaSalle City Council hasn’t made an official decision.
