The person who died after the fire at a south side Ottawa apartment building was 39-year old Rendelle Farrell. LaSalle County Coroner Rich Ploch says she died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. Fire fighters found Farrell in the living room in the apartment that was on fire. Fire Chief Brian Bressner said last week the fire appeared to have started accidentally.

Update: The fire started on a stovetop. Fire Chief Brian Bressner says the major fire damage is in the kitchen, one of the burners was on, and cookware had melted on the stovetop.
