Dean Thompson, 76, of Marseilles, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Graveside services will be private at DeBolt Cemetery, Wedron with Rev. John Waugh, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Dean was born on December 25, 1946 in Ottawa to Orrin and Marguerite (McEwing) Thompson. He worked as a farmer for 40 years. Dean married Mary Kate Johnson on February 3, 1968 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Naplate. He enjoyed wood working projects following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kate Thompson of 55 years; two children, Rob (Susan) Thompson, of Leland, Mark (Kelli) Thompson, of Plano; four grandchildren, Craig (Brittany), Alexendra, Hunter, Ashlyn Thompson; a great-grandson, Jason; a brother, Terry (Nancy) Thompson; many nieces and nephews, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gregg and JoAnn Johnson Schneider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Marguerite.
