Seneca High School breaks ground on new gym project

By WCMY News Mar 16, 2023 | 4:44 AM

What’s starting as a large pile of dirt at Seneca High School will soon turn into the school’s new three-court gym. High school board members, some members of the construction crew, and Supt. Dan Stecken held a ceremonial groundbreaking yesterday afternoon. Stecken says since the school first opened in 1979, there’s always been talk of building a second gym. He says those proposals never came to fruition.

He says the new gym makes it so students don’t have to come into school at five or six o’clock in the morning for sports practices. Sports tournaments can also be held. But it’s not the only project getting done. The south side road will be rebuilt. The road will be straightened out so it’s not a right angle and a concrete island will be removed.

The entire project is scheduled to be done by 2024.
