A LaSalle County Board rule update requires all committee meetings to be held in room 250 at the Etna Rd. courthouse—except for the Highway Department’s committee. Some board members feel that committee should meet there too so all committee meetings are equally audible and visible online after sound system improvements to be made this summer. Board Chairman Don Jensen feels the Highway Department engineers are better equipped to answer questions that come up while they’re in the building where they have all their information.
The County Board Land Use Committee has sometimes met at the landfill west of Ottawa, because that’s sometimes the subject of the meeting. The Health Department’s Board, which isn’t a county board committee, meets at the Emergency Management Agency building.
