Alzheimer’s disease affects about 230,000 people in Illinois right now. To raise awareness, Illinois Alzheimer’s Association Senior Walk Manager Kayli Lavelle says the organization is already planning for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She says the walk started in Peru but later moved to Ottawa in 2015.

Participants should expect a lot during the walk.

The organization is looking for sponsors for this year’s event. Participants can also start signing up for the walk on the Alzheimer’s Associations Website . The event is Saturday, September 9th starting at 8:30am in the Jordan Block.
