Green St. from Chapel St. to Canal Rd. will be closed Thursday for tree removal. Ottawa City Commissioner Marla Pearson says that’s so a contractor can remove trees ahead of the project to elevate Green St. above the floodplain.
The closure will start at 8am. It’s to be done by 5pm. Access in and out of Ottawa’s east side must be done via Main St. during the Green St. closure.
The street will be elevated so it will no longer be closed during floods on the Illinois and Fox rivers.
