By WCMY News Mar 12, 2023 | 4:37 AM

High school students who want the chance for their art work to be shown in the Congressional building passageways in Washington, DC can start getting ready for an annual contest. Cong. Lauren Underwood’s office is taking submissions until April 21 for the Congressional Art Contest. The size and weight rules are available at her Congressional website.

Entries can be photographs, paintings, drawings, and other works that are two-dimensional and original. They can be submitted in person to Underwood’s district office by appointment. To enter the contest, you must go through the office of the House member who represents you.

Cong. Darin LaHood also participates in the contest every year. We haven’t received details from his office as of the time when this story was prepared. His Congressional website is at this link.

Update: Cong. LaHood’s office will take questions about the art contest at 309-671-7027. The participation deadline is March 17. The district art show will run from Tuesday, April 25 through Saturday, May 20 at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Winners will be announced at a reception in Rockford on April 29.
