Heritage Harbor had a groundbreaking Thursday afternoon for its next home development area. Developer Tom Heimsoth says there’s room for 100 homes in the Harbor Village section. Three model homes are going up first.
Heimsoth says he always has to look over his shoulder when it comes to the economy. Lately, interest rates could be a problem for some buyers. But he says people are buying.
Heimsoth started Heritage Harbor 16 years ago. The 2008 recession made him rework some of his plans, but he kept at it. Of 190 homes at Heritage Harbor now, 43 have full time residents. Many others are lived in at least some time as vacation homes or second homes.
